The Inertia

Some waves don’t fire to life very often. The ones that take a rare swell direction combined with perfect winds. In early December, Kai Lenny and a crew that included Ian Walsh and Nathan Florence, got just that when a rare outer reef wave went off on Maui. “The outer reefs require a lot of force from storms close to the island,” Kai wrote on YouTube. “On the right day and every five to 10 years, these big waves come back to life. My only wish for Christmas is to surf it another time this winter!”
