Kai Lenny really likes surfing big waves. The biggest waves he can find, really. He doesn’t much care about how he gets them or what he’s riding or whether he’s paddling, he just wants to surf the biggest of the biggest. And he routinely does just that. Sometimes, a wave just isn’t possible without a little help from a Jet Ski, after all. Take, for example, the wave he caught at Nazaré on February 11, just before the pandemic put a padlock on travel. It won him the WSL’s XXL Biggest Wave award, and in the video above, Kai sits down across the internet with Strider Wasilewski to explain the hows and whats of surfing a 70-foot wave.
