The Inertia

Kai Lenny loves surfing the biggest possible waves he can. That doesn’t mean he’s not nervous, though. The nerves, we’d wager, are part of what he loves about it — controlling fear and all that. But add on top of big wave surfing nerves a whole bunch of contest nerves, and you’re on a different level of nervousness. Red Bull’s Life of Kai follows Kai Lenny through the final hours of preparation for the Nazaré Tow Challenge, an event that will go down in history as one of the biggest surf contests ever. He, along with partner Lucas Chumbo, know the wave at Nazaré just as well — if not better — than anybody else, but knowing isn’t all you need. You need talent, courage, and a whole bunch of luck, too… and Lenny and Chumbo were the team that turned out to be unbeatable.
