The Inertia

When it comes to waterborne activities, Kai Lenny is a freak. The term “multi-discipline” doesn’t seem to be enough. He is universally accepted as one of the best athletes in the world, but the range of things he excels at is wide and varying. He holds multiple SUP world championships, is widely regarded as one of the best big wave surfers in the world, and is so far ahead of the curve when it comes to foiling. And that’s all on boards without a sail. As a Maui guy, he’s had to learn to embrace the wind — and embrace it he has. Windsurfing, in fact, kind of started his whole watersports career, and he holds it close to his heart. And if you ask anyone at the top of the sport what they think of him, they’ll tell you he still holds his own when the wind’s in his sail. My favorite thing in the world is riding a wave,” he told Red Bull, “so as long as I’m riding a wave, I’m happy.” Allow him to blow you away wave sailing at Hookipa.
