The Inertia

Kai Lenny is surely one of the best all-around surfers in the world. It’s not a stretch to call him the best in the world. Big wave surfing, small wave surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, hydrofoiling — he’s got them all dialed. You’d be hard pressed to find someone with a similar mastery over such a wide variety of surf-related craft. He recently headed to Mexico with a quiver so diverse that only Kai Lenny could use it properly, and the above film focusses on his foiling antics.

In the description, Lenny addresses the common complaints that people often have about foiling. “For context,”he wrote, “I was always a safe distance from other surfers and knew practically everyone in the lineup.”

The short film has a whole lot of slow motion in it, and while slow motion footage has been the focus of internet ire in the last few years, it does serve in showing just how technical foil surfing at Kai’s level is.
