Remember that giant swell that rammed into Maverick’s in mid-December? It was part of a run of swell that produced some of the biggest waves along the California coast in decades. The Maverick’s Challenge almost ran, but then didn’t because the forecast was just ridiculous. That means, of course, that everyone who’s anyone in the big wave world descended on the place and put on a show the likes of which we haven’t seen in a long, long time.
