If you’re going to surf at a place like Jaws, you need to be prepared to lose a bunch of stuff. You need to be okay with breaking a surfboard. You need to be okay with losing a Jet Ski on the rocks. You need to be okay with a whole lot of things, injuries included. But you can’t just leave your trash when it ends up on the rocks, and when you’re surfing at a place like Jaws, picking up your trash isn’t the easiest thing in the world. Especially when your “trash” is a busted Jet Ski.
“Big wave surfing has consequences,” Kai Lenny says. “Sometimes you can’t out run the monster waves and your Jet Ski gets destroyed on the rocks. Fortunately there are amazing helicopter pilots who can retrieve the carnage.”
