The Inertia

A long time ago—in internet time, anyway—Craig Anderson blew our collective minds when a photo emerged of him at Kanduis. In the photo, he was riding an impossibly small Hypto Krypto, his back knee perfectly knocked, his arms held slightly forward. It captured everything a surf photo should. Hyptos flooded the marketplace and became the fastest selling board on the market, save for maybe the Wavestorm.

Well, ladies and gentlemen, we’ve got another one of those waves that will likely be implanted in the minds of surfers for years to come. Enter Josh Kerr on his weapon of choice: a 5’4 Insanity model, made by Album Surfboards. Developed with Kerr’s input in 2017, it’s a mashup of a bunch of different ideas that work very, very well in conditions from what you see above to waist-high runners. The fin setup, according to Album, is a quad. And the wave? Well, it’s just about as perfect as perfect can get. Shades of Anderson’s wave, right?
