I’ve visited Lombok countless times over the years but never had the chance to shoot there. Hands down, it’s the most perfect reef I’ve ever seen and coincidentally I’ve never felt that it’s been properly filmed or shot.
Great timing this year coinciding with the end of the Rip Curl Padang Padang waiting period resulted in being there for loads of swell, perfect trades, and mellow vibes. I’ve always thought Jonathan Gubbins fit this wave to a t, and I’ve personally never seen an edit where someone got barreled this much in three minutes.
