The Inertia

It’s been a bit of a theme lately that a CT wave will fire just a few days before a WSL event starts. It’s terrible for the competitors and the fans of pro surfing, but hey, at least it’s almost a sure bet that if you were book a ticket to J-Bay ahead of the contest with a return date of one day prior to the starter’s gun, you wouldn’t be skunked. For the competitors, who often show up at a venue a few days in advance to get their feet in the wax, it’s probably not too bad, either.

Granted, perfect J-Bay with just a few others in your heat in the lineup is the dream, but hey, at least they get firing J-Bay. Such was the case on July 8th, when some of the best surfers in the world like John John Florence, João Chianca, Gabriel Medina, and Yago Dora showed up to warm up in the colder waters for the Corona Open J-Bay. Fingers crossed the conditions are anywhere close to as good as they were on July 8th.
