The Inertia

John John Florence is widely regarded as the best surfer in the world right now. One does not get to the peak of their sport without picking up a few injuries along the way, and John’s had his fair share. One of the best ways to avoid those injuries, especially as we age, is to maintain mobility. A long muscle is a strong muscle, as the saying goes.

John John likes to keep his body in surfing shape. It’s very likely that he’d be doing that whether he was a professional surfer or not — staying limber is the key to longevity in any physical activity — but since he’s surfing against the best surfers on Earth pretty regularly, he focusses particularly hard on keeping the muscles loose and the joints oiled.

In the video above from Vivo Barefoot, one of Florence’s newest sponsors, John John takes us through his favorite stretches that he does on a daily basis. Whether you surf every day or not, it’s a good idea to get into a routine like his. Your body will thank you.
