There are a few waves on the North Shore that suit John John Florence’s style of surfing just about perfectly. Pipeline, of course, but perhaps even more so is Rockpiles. And on December 26th, John John Florence paddled out for a solo session there.
The wave at Rockpiles, when it gets big, has giant walls that are tailor made to John John’s turns. It’s pretty much a given that John surfs the way he does because he grew up surfing the powerful waves of the North Shore.
“No one was on the beach, no one else in the water,” wrote Off Da Lip on YouTube. “Just JJF and the ocean; a perfect combination.”
