It’s been a while since John John Florence has competed. That nagging knee injury took a while to heal enough for him to feel confident it would hold up to the beatings he puts it through, and John John doesn’t want to sully his record with a sub-par performance. He recently donned a jersey again for the Michelob ULTRA Pure Gold Haleiwa Challenger. It appears his knee is up for the challenge. He stunned (well, they probably kind of expected it, to be honest) with a near-perfect heat score total of 18.30.
It’s a hard wave to surf. Heavy as can be, full of current and other people trying to catch a good one. Above are a handful of highlights from a very good day at a very good wave.
