John John Florence and Koa Rothman are fast friends. They’ve been surfing together forever, since they were just little kids splashing around at Ehukai. Now, of course, they’re surfing royalty, but old friends keep you grounded, right? Especially when they give each other the gears, which John and Koa do in between sessions in the video above.
Right now on the North Shore, winter is bearing down. The sand on the reefs that accumulated all summer is in the process of being wiped away by the steadily-increasing swells, and Pipe surfers like Koa and John are champing at the bit. But in the meantime, they’ll have to make do with pretty epic Rocky Point, because that’s what’s on offer. Could be worse, right?
