The Inertia

First up, excuse the picture quality of this one. With the whole wide world shouting for 4K (and now 8K!) these days, throwing out a fuzzy clip that tops out at 360p will likely cause the internet snobs among us to collectively guffaw. Then again, a feat like this filmed home movie style has a certain je ne sais quoi, no?

It’s no secret the Gold Coast, and more specifically Kirra, has been firing of late – Cyclone Gita, which hammered the likes of Tonga and New Zealand brought sweet, sweet, perfectly-ordered corduroy lines to the Goldie. It’s a story surfers on the U.S.’ east coast know all too well – storms that wreak havoc in one place have a tendency to produce fine surf someplace else. And not to belabor the point, but perhaps one of the best things you can do to honor the sacrifice of another human being’s livelihood (besides of course financial support) is surf the hell out of the waves it produces. Let not the sacrifice be made in vain.

Onto this little moment of Joel Parko filmed by Youtube user Se é louco. The former world champ expertly threads (count em!) three chandelier sections in what can only be described as expert wizardry. The way Parko maintains speed over the foam ball, you might say he swung* from the chandelier.

*Apologies, that was just an excuse to do this. You’re welcome:
