The Inertia

In the bodyboard world, Jeff Hubbard is a legend. Strike that, actually. He’s a legend in the wave riding world in general. He’s got enough trophies to fill a mile of mantels. He’s pushed the sport for as long as anyone, and he’s still pushing it.

Pipeline isn’t exactly uncrowded. When its good, the lineup is packed with some of the best on Earth. Even for them, battling against other who are in your talent pool can make things difficult, so when Hubbard saw that Pipe was empty — for relatively good reason — he had to take advantage.

Sure, the waves weren’t all-time, but a guy with Hubbard’s skill and wave-knowledge can always spot the diamonds in the rough. And that’s exactly what he did.
