Saturday was something special for Hawaii and the surfing world. Oahu’s outer reefs were doing their best massive Cloudbreak impersonation, Waimea Bay was perhaps Eddie-worthy (if it wasn’t for this damn pandemic), and Jaws was the biggest and best it’s been in recent memory. It took a whole lot of guts to make it out at Jaws, and even more to go for anything. While the morning may have been paddleable, the afternoon was entirely a tow-in affair, with incredible rides from Jaws regulars such as Kai Lenny, Billy Kemper, Justine Dupont, and Nathan Florence. “Been a wild ride today! Some of the biggest waves I have had the privilege to ride,” said Nate, who bagged one of the waves of the day in the post above. (The clips were provided by Take Shelter Productions.)

Justine Dupont certainly had the tow wave of the day with a massively-deep barrel she came shooting out of – slide two in the post above. For some more zoomed-out context as to how massive the wave truly was, check out the video below:

All in all, and this goes without saying, it’s been an incredible few weeks in surfing, and it’s good to see this crazy run of swell go out with a bang. Undoubtedly, as the swell starts to ease and surfers like Nate and Kai find the time to sit down at their computers to upload GoPro footage, more incredible clips will continue to emerge – until the next swell hits and the process starts anew.
