Saying Pipeline has been good lately is an understatement. Pipeline has been the best it’s been in a decade, according to Jamie O’Brien. And he’s surfed it about as much as anyone could in the last decade, so that’s saying something.
“I only have about five or six boards left,” he said, running his eyes over his rapidly dwindling quiver. “This swell bender has been absolutely crazy.”
You’ve likely noticed that Pipe has been insanely consistent in recent weeks, but not only has it been consistent, it’s been consistently far better than usual.
“It has been a pumping, pumping few months at Pipeline,” O’Brien continued. “All we ask for is a perfect swell report and it’s been delivering day after day after day. It’s so incredible to get this many days in a row at Pipeline. It’s a very rare thing. It’s the best run I’ve seen in 10-plus years. Just consistent, perfect Pipeline.”
Jamie isn’t the only one who has been reaping the rewards of a life dedicated to Pipeline, either. Koa Smith is over the moon about it as well, and the Florence brothers have been surfing their fair share of perfect tubes, too.
