The Inertia

Jamie O’Brien surfs differently than the rest of us. Sure, he’s capable of surfing differently because he’s so dang good at it, but it’s also because he’s been able to put himself in a position where, if, for example, the Waimea River wave happens to be breaking in the middle of the night, he can be there. He doesn’t necessarily have to worry about waking up at the crack of dawn to drag himself to an office or a construction site. He’s put in the work, and now he’s reaping the rewards.

But since there are more hours in the day than the dark ones, before Jamie headed out for a night session on the river, he did some of his usual antics: crushing more Red Bull than he probably should and womping in a Speedo (his signature one, of course). The river didn’t work during the day, thanks to a pesky ocean that wanted to push the tide a little too high, so he came back later on with a bunch of charged up lights and a bunch of friends ready to have a whole lot of fun. It’s not the first time he’s done it, and we’d wager it won’t be the last.
