Happy Wedge Season, everyone.
We previously saw Jamie O’Brien and others make the pilgrimage to the famous California shorebreak for The Wedge’s opening day, and this time JOB has returned on his trademark soft-top to join a crowd of bodyboarders. However, the journey didn’t end there. Shortly after, he and his crew hopped on a plane for Mexico.
The trip gets off to a rocky start, with the Jet Ski malfunctioning only an hour before dark, but they are undeterred, “It’s on shore, it’s not ideal conditions, but we’re having a good time,” says O’Brien. The crowd charges nonetheless, scoring some solid waves and even more solid wipeouts at the Mexican pipeline.
The next day is where things really took off. The crew took the Jet Ski back out and landed some pretty incredible rides. Jamie, for his part, had a more measured take on the expedition, “All in all, really hard surf today for me, didn’t really get anything too crazy but it’s fun. Always psyched to be here in Mexico.”
