There are a handful of people who have cemented themselves as the best to ever do it at Pipeline. Gerry Lopez, of course, but in more recent years there are people like John John Florence, Kelly Slater, and Jamie O’Brien. And since Pipeline was recently on a run of swell that seemed to never end, those three have been getting their laps in, to say the least.
Jamie O’Brien and Kelly Slater are heavily featured in the latest installment from Jamie’s vlog. O’Brien lives within spitting distance of the world’s most famous wave, and that’s not something he takes for granted.
“One of the best things that ever happened to me was somehow being a part of Pipeline,” Jamie said from his porch. “Just waking up and being able to check the waves. Because today the waves are really good and there aren’t too many people in the lineup. Those are the key moments that you live at Pipeline for.”
While it wasn’t the massive, unruly Pipeline that we’ve seen in the last few weeks, it was still very, very good. Since the swell bender is quieting down, the crowds are too.
