Despite living in the surfing mecca of Oahu, waves have been a little hard to come by lately for Jamie O’Brien. As a result, he headed to the lesser-surfed South Shore to check out a novelty wave at China Walls for his latest vlog.
As O’Brien and crew surveyed the terrain, he outlined why his post title describes China Walls as “the most dangerous surf spot on the South Shore.”
“I actually saw Kaikea [Elias] get shredded up really bad,” he told the camera. “Looked like he got wiped up at Teahupo’o, but it was here [at] China Walls. It’s kind of cool, novelty as it gets. Super cool little spot.”
O’Brien’s memory of Kaikea’s previous defeat at China Walls proved to be prophetic. When Elias eventually joined in on the session, he somehow managing to rip off all three of his fins on the reef. However, when all was said and done, JOB and co. deemed the session a success – a fun novelty to tide them over until the winter swell returns and the North Shore is back at full force.
