Jamie O’Brien has been hiding out in the Mentawais for a while now. Since the end of August, the freesurfer and YouTuber has been consistently posting enviable clips from the surfing world’s worst-kept secret. However, with his latest edit, it seems like the journey has come to an end.
Obviously, the whole adventure had to end with one final surf session, though it perhaps did not deliver the sort of fireworks O’Brien was hoping for his sendoff. “If I want to be nit-picky about it, it could have been better,” He said after a final session at Lance’s Right, “but there were some crazy waves. I didn’t end up on the best ones, but still got some amazing ones. I’m not gonna sit here and complain, but had an epic trip. So psyched.”
From there, O’Brien and company packed up and shipped out to nearby Bali. The search continues.
