Surfing at Jaws means you are going to take one of the worst beatings of your life. There’s no escaping it, and on December 19, with Maui Media Cartel watching, Jacob Turner was reminded of that once again.
Turner is no stranger to huge waves. He’s not yet 20 years old, but already he’s established himself as a guy who walks that fine line in big surf where he’s charging harder than just about everyone, but not charging recklessly.
The Kauai local is used to the Hawaiian juice, but Jaws is on a different level, especially for a goofy-footer. But Turner just quietly goes about his business of catching enormous waves, making a name for himself quietly with his actions, not his words. And even though he’s not shouting his name from the rooftops, you can bet we’re going to be hearing a LOT more from him in the coming years.
