It wasn’t just the East Coast surfers who answered the siren song of hurricane swell. Ben Gravy already gave us a sneak peek of the action, but then Jacob ‘Zeke’ Szekely hopped on a flight to join in on surfing Hurricane Lee.
After cheesesteaks from Geno’s and an aggressive amount of trips to Wawa, the boys headed out to the beach for a good old fashioned stakeout (read: sitting in a truck waiting for waves). “I’ve never seen a forecast disagree so much,” laughed a bewildered Gravy. “You can click 1 p.m. on the Euro and it says straight onshore 11 miles an hour, you click the GFS and it says straight offshore 11 miles an hour.”
However, the waves finally did arrive, and it was on. Using a jet ski for stepoffs, the pair traded places tackling some sizable surf (for the East Coast). “It’s everything I could ever dream for,” summed up Szekely.
“Somehow Zeke got triple overhead waves when it was only chest-high on me,” replied Gravy.
