Surfing and snowboarding have a lot of obvious crossover skills. After all, to some extent, riding a board is riding a board. However, Jacob Szekely seems to think that synergy could go a little bit further. Unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on your outlook), he did that in a way that raised a few eyebrows at a local ski resort.
The shenanigans aren’t exactly surprising, as the La Jolla surfer and YouTuber styles himself as a bit of a rabble rouser. Past videos have involved performing a foam board transfer during a QS heat, sneaking in to Championship Tour events, and fighting in the lineup. His original claim to fame was once winning the NSSA National Championships while wearing a court-mandated ankle monitor.
This time, he decided to haul out an old surfboard into the snow at Big Bear resort. The moment comes around the 11:30 mark in the video when, after a few runs on traditional boards, Szekely and company decided to get creative. After fashioning a DIY chest harness and leash with a nylon strap, he tried his hand at a few short runs, and even managed to attempt a shove it or two.
The fun was short-lived, however. Almost immediately, staff came down, responding to complaints from other guests. Though he was eventually given the boot, Szekely managed to sneak in one attempt at a box that went…surprisingly well.
