The Inertia

Going into the Paris Olympic surfing event, Australia has a pretty stacked team. The foursome, consisting of Jack Robinson, Ethan Ewing, Molly Picklum and Tyler Wright, has been blowing us away with their performance in the regular season, and there’s no reason for that to stop once they get to the end of the road.

Lately, Surfing Australia’s High Performance Program has lately been posting a few behind the scenes looks at that team’s preparations for Teahupo’o. Yesterday, we got a look at Molly Picklum’s worst wipeout of her life, during a training trip to Tahiti. Now we get a quick peek into Jack Robinson’s preparations for the games, both in and out of the water.

“Basically got back after three big events from Brazil and Tahiti and El Salvador and go straight into it,” he explains in voice over. ”This swell was really good. We had a bunch of good waves over about three days. We were doing step offs everywhere. I actually got a few good sessions at Snapper as well.”

As to his chances for the actual competition, Robinson seems bullish. “It’s been a long year, but I’m gonna just finish strong, I think,” he concluded. “Body’s good, boards are good. Yeah, let’s keep going, keep pushing forward.”
