It’s true. While Jack may have built a career around broken-down mellow acoustic melodies that feel like they were born around a campfire, what fans of the singer/songwriter oft forget is Jack Johnson is a core surfer through and through. The Encyclopedia of Surfing reminds us that Jack was raised on the North Shore, and made the finals of the Pipe Masters Trials back in ’92. Since, he gained a brief reputation behind the lens and wrote the soundtrack for the surf film September Sessions, which helped to land him a record deal. And the rest, they say is history. Point being, it’s not often Jack shows off his surfing talents in front of the lens. So, this is a rare glimpse. Also featuring the stylings of Harrison Roach and Bryce Young.
