“Surfing in Brittany, France, we’re quite far from the standard surf cliché of the blonde, sun-tanned guy in board shorts with a sunny climate,” says Ian Fontaine, pro surfer and twice a French national surfing champion. “It’s more about 5/4/3 hooded wetsuits and hard-to-access surf-spots.” If Ian wanted easy, he’d be surfing in Hawaii or Indonesia – he’s definitely got the chops for it. But to Ian, the challenge of the wet, cold days is part of why he loves surfing along the northwest coast of France, and why he wouldn’t want to be riding waves anywhere else. Ian was just signed with Manera Wetsuits to help him take on the cold and wet with some serious neoprene – hence his debut edit with the brand.
