Hydrofoils are strange. After years of air chairing, someone (Laird, of course) decided to stick a foil on a surfboard. It was kind of cool. But air chairing? Man oh man. If one can put aside the fact that air chairing is like sitting on a flying toilet, it’s incredible. Here, watch this:
Holy shit, right? Still, though, hydrofoiling looks like a blast–floating just above a wave, missing out on all that horrible board-bogging chop, and surfing in conditions that would generally be unsurfable is pretty cool. Anything that gets someone in the water more is pretty cool. That, though, doesn’t stop the haters from hating… but nothing will.
