Without a doubt, I say this was easily the second biggest swell we’ve received this year in OC, only behind that mid-August macking hurricane banger. This one was clocking from an initial 170 degree swell direction to an almost exact 180 by about 9 a.m. There was some east mixed in here that really made for some crazy lines and totally lit up Cylinders (near the Wedge in Newport Beach, Calif.) just right. I’ve never seen that wave pop off the way it did. Huge tubes, heavy wipeouts, and plenty of stoke to go around.
