Torrey Meister. Torrey was one of the pro's that hung around for the swell, putting on a show for the Lighthouse lineup. Image McCarthy
Ben Bourgeois. Ben, kind of drifting at the beginning of this wave tunnel. Stall, get deep and hope you make it! Image: McCarthy
Hayman Blvd. This is my friend Rascoe Hunt checking out a little a frame at Hayman Blvd. We had a great five day run of quality waves. Pretty rare on the East coast. Image: McCarthy
Ben Bourgeois. Ben was completely plugged in with ocean’s energy while surfing Oregon Inlet. You can see the outer shoals breaking in the distance. Image: McCarthy
CJ Hobgood. Camp Hobgood was in full swing when the swell from Leslie started filling in at the Lighthouse in Buxton. The groms killed it but the highlight would be the times CJ went for a surf with them.I bet the kids are still high from that. Image: McCarthy
Jonathan Mincher. I have to give Jonathan an A for effort here in this crazy drop. He made the drop, but was summarily crushed down the line. Image: McCarthy
Old Coast Guard Station, Oregon Inlet. It was just refurbished after years of being abandoned. That’s the Bonner bridge in the background, the true gateway to Outer Banks surfing. Image: McCarthy
Kalani Robb. Here is a guy I never thought I’d see surfing the Lighthouse. Kalani was part of a group of lucky pro’s that stuck around after the Bud Light contest. I was thrilled to watch and shoot them. It was cool they got to experience the Outer Banks during a hurricane swell.Image: McCarthy
Oregon Inlet Beach Break. Leslie dishes out some perfection along the Outer Banks. Image: McCarthy
Injured. The ground swells were long and powerful and at some breaks it was downright mean! You can take a lot of heavy hits in the surf, but you'll get casualties. Two of our area's top surfers have been side lined for knee and ankle injuries. This is Matt Pruett checking the damage. Image: McCarthy
Fisher Heaverly. One of a strong contingent of southern NC rippers I get to see every once in a while. Fisher understands our waves and plugs right in. Image: McCarthy
Brett Barley. Brett knows how to keep a cool composure in difficult positions. Image: McCarthy
Phillip Goold. Oh,’ was there somebody behind me? Image: McCarthy
Graham Lovett, Oregon Inlet. Graham looks a little surprised at this gift from Leslie. Image: McCarthy
Outer Shoals, Oregon Inlet. Perfect place for some step offs. It’s way out there and it’s a lot bigger than it looks. Image: McCarthy
Swallowed. Yes, you could get swallowed! Image: McCarthy
Oregon Inlet. Here is the stretch where the beach takes a slight curve and the waves really start to wrap. There were still a lot of waves that didn’t get ridden. Image: McCarthy
