The 2018 hurricane season has been one of the most intense in history, producing the highest accumulated cyclone energy on record in the Eastern Pacific basin. With the World Meteorological Organization’s system of naming storms alphabetically, this season was so active that by the beginning of November we had “Xavier,” the first storm to reach the “X” name on the Eastern Pacific naming list since 1992.
