In an innovative and sustainable initiative, we can all enjoy surfing in a unique way and contribute to keeping plastic waste off our beaches. the Portuguese surfer Nuno Mesquita developed a handboard totally produced from plastic found on the coast, called RE-BOARD.
The idea came to Nuno when he was cleaning the beach with his kids, collecting plastic bottle caps. Later, in his studio, he started experimenting with what they’d collected and created a handboard made out of 100% recycled plastics.
“Surfing has a direct relationship with nature and encouraging care with beaches is essential to our lifestyle,” Mesquita says. “We want to be part of the solution to the problem of plastic in the oceans.”
The Re-board can be used by surfers of all ages, experience levels, and sizes. Each handboard is super lightweight, slightly bigger than the hand, and is a great choice for anyone looking for fun on the waves.
The Re-board is only available on a crowdfunding platform until the August 22.
