Matt Dunsmore is a 21-year-old big wave surfer from North Narrabeen. He recently took off on an adventure to charge Shipstern Bluff in Tasmania, a wave he says he’s been wanting to surf for years.
In just over a week, Matt and his close mate Sam scored a handful of pulsing swells in Tasmania – a rarity in the Southern Ocean, where big swells typically take a bit of space to breathe. I wanted to know what his motivations were behind tackling Shippies, what inspired him, and hear a few stories about the other big waves he rode before crossing this one off his bucket list.
