The Inertia

This video is about the history of Pacific Beach. It’s about all I could fit into a five-minute video but dang there’s a lot to this little San Diego town that gave us Skip Frye, among other things.

It all started with a handful of real estate developers who chose this little plot of California’s coast in the late 1800s. What started out as a bayside development with lots going for anywhere from $25 to $100 a piece, was slow to develop until World War II, when suddenly PB’s population started growing faster than any other San Diego suburb. Land value grew and so did Pacific Beach’s imprint on Southern California’s surf culture.
