Josie Prendergast was born on a small island in the Philippines called Siargao. At the age of four, her family moved to Byron Bay, Australia where her dad taught her and her brothers to surf.
Now, Josie is currently finishing up her final year in school and balances her education with surf and modeling trips with her sponsors. She is certainly enjoying a thriving career as a free surfer. In this video, shot in her hometown of Byron Bay, we followed her around at her local spot, The Pass, and took some time to chat about her childhood, surfing history, family, her first surf trip to Panama, her local surf spots, and her thoughts on being a free surfer rather than competing.
