What is it about big waves that never, ever gets old?
Probably fear of death. That’s what it boils down to. Rarely do occasions arise where human strength is so thoroughly dwarfed by nature. Big wave, little person. That’s all you need to understand for the images and video to apply to you, so it works. It just does. And despite the cheesy, stock, license-to-use anywhere music that scores this collection of offensively large waves, this clip is awesome. The Icarus-like men who tease the sun are awesome. And the waves – from Belharra to Nazare to Cloudbreak – are especially awesome.
Here’s hoping for another winter to remember. Maybe we’ll get to debate what a 100-foot wave really means again. Or maybe we can try to disregard any gigantic wave surfed at Nazare again.
Nah. That’d be stupid.
Charge on, brave souls. Charge on.

![Holy puddle jumpers, that wave is absolutely ridiculous. Who cares if it doesn't break top to bottom? Like no one.](http://www.theinertia.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/10/nazareisfinggiant-670x387.jpg?x28523)
