The Inertia

Sid Abruzzi is the long time owner of celebrated Water Brothers surf and skate shop in Newport, Rhode Island. They have been a staple in the community since skateboarding began with clay wheels and $10 completes. When he first got started during the “summer of love” Sid wasn’t thinking about Woodstock, he was thinking he wanted to skate and surf for as long as he could and that meant driving all the way to New Jersey to pick up boards to sell.

From there Sid’s company, including the 10 foot halfpipe in the backyard, grew into the go to spot of the Northeast for die hard surfers and skaters alike. At the beginning Water Brothers would buy their merchandise wholesale from the distributors just like everyone else, but slowly realized that’s not who they were and began exclusively selling Water Brothers apparel.

Water Brothers has always supported their community whether it be preserving the landmark spot Ruggles or putting on local surf contests. The Northeast is where they built their brand from the ground up and it is their home.

In order to uphold their grass roots brand Sid and Water Brothers need your help so join the fight with pros like Ian Walsh and head on over to their Kickstarter  to donate.
