So far, this winter around the South Bay has been a refreshing change of pace in comparison to last year. We’ve already seen multiple swells bringing larger waves than anything the 2017/2018 winter gave us.
This season has been reminiscent of the 2016-2017 El Niño. The South Bay saw similar swells, some bombing days, and had some incredible sand bars set up that winter. And keep in mind the waves around this part of Los Angeles County close out about 85 percent of the time (at least), so when we get waves with actual faces and barrels people can race out of, we lose our minds, call in sick to work, ditch school, and fabricate whatever little white lies we can to whomever we need so we can get in the water.
