Philmar and PJ Alipayo are brothers who happen to be two of the most talented surfers in the Philippines. Both have been competing in ‘QS events since 2014 and saw a steady rise in the rankings over a three-year stretch between 2014 and 2016. 2017 was an off year for the brothers as far as their overall rankings went, but they celebrated one monumental piece of surfing history in the Philippines when Philmar won the 19th Siargao National Surfing Cup in September, the first-ever Philippine Surfing Championship Tour-sanctioned event. It was a huge step for both brothers just as much as it was for the advancement of the Filipino surf community.
