If anybody embodied the word gnarly better than Evel Knievel, we’re curious just who the heck it might be. Evel is an American icon. He’s sending it personified. And now he’s walking the nose…which is probably a lot more mellow than the other stuff he used to do.
Every holiday, Shane Jones, the brilliant mind behind Jonesea Wetsuits, sits down and crafts himself a celebratory wetsuit. It’s his way of testing his own skills as a tailor as well as showing off a little bit of what he can do. “This year I created, from scratch, a replica of Evel Knievel’s leather suit he wore during his stunts,” he told The Inertia. “I got the idea from hearing about Travis Pastrana re-creating a few of EK’s tricks on the 8th, so [I] thought it’d be a killer build. I got at least 150 or so people asking me what’s going to be the 4th of July wetsuit.”
Last year, Jones got patriotic in his Whiskey Tango wetsuit. A few months later he was Shreddy Krueger. And the list goes on of all the creative wetsuits he’s fashioned through the years. Today, it’s a guy who sent it on motorcycles like nobody else ever could. Happy Birthday, America.
