It was big enough to get a hype name: the first south swell of the season was tagged #LaBomba and it basically lived up to its name. The Wedge went fairly richter and plenty of cameras were there to capture the magic. And more than a few surfers, boogie boarders, and skim artists were there to throw themselves over the edge.
It’s been a solid swell, but nowhere near the 2014 Hurricane Marie event that most modern swells are now measured against. But it was solid, and as is the case with every south swell at the Wedge, more than a few wild hellmen were there to charge. The YouTube page SoCal Surfer put together this edit featuring all the mayhem. Good stuff from a group of everyman chargers.
