Nathan Fletcher is a legend from a legendary family. He’s quiet, gruff, and weathered. He’s been through the wringer more than his fair share and has come out the other side of more than a few things that probably should have killed him. When it comes to surfing big waves, he’s one of the best in the world. It’s a family thing—Fletcher’s grandfather was a North Shore pioneer. Red Bull’s Heavy Water, directed by Michael Oblowitz (of Sea of Darkness fame), is due out in 2019. It’s “a voyage through the eyes of the surfing community that delves deep into the roots and mindset of the board sports culture, culminating in a spectacular, never-before-performed stunt, as Fletcher once again attempts to raise the bar of what is possible,” and judging by the trailer, you won’t want to miss it.
