Watching Griffin at J-Bay is as amazing as it is confusing. It’s amazing in that he shows true World Tour quality surfing, but it’s confusing in that he’s sitting at an uncharacteristic 92nd place on the ‘QS. But I wouldn’t get comfortable with that ranking for too long, as Griffin is getting some great coaching and advice by traveling the globe with the world’s best, not to mention the boy is a phenomenal surfer. Plus, he’s just getting started. At just 17 years old, Griffin has a long, successful career ahead of him. I’d love for nothing more than to see him climb the rankings and qualify for the CT, where he rightfully belongs.
