Greenbush is a fantastic wave. It’s one of the best in the southern Mentawais, which is saying a lot considering the quality of waves in that zone. But, like most good waves, it’s not something to be trifled with.
While it might look easy, it’s got a lip that’ll take your head off. The barrels are deep and long. The reef is sharp and shallow, and closeouts are relatively frequent. But when you get one… well, it’s a wave you’re going to remember for the rest of your life.
In the video above, Praya Mentawai Surf Charters’ surf guide Lucas de Nardi walks the viewer through a session there, what it takes to make the wave, and what happens when you don’t.
