The Inertia

On Sunday, which just so happened to coincide with the first day of Shark Week, an angler caught a 6-foot Great White shark off San Clemente. It was later released back into the ocean after a group saw the animal in distress and came to its aid.

A video uploaded to Instagram shows a man with pliers removing the hook from the shark’s mouth as waves continue to pound and flip the shark close to shore.

“Oh man that sucks, poor thing,” the woman who filmed the episode can be heard saying. “I hope it’s going to be OK.”

A second video shows the group manage to pull the shark to deeper water by its tail, as it eventually swims away on its own volition.
