The Inertia

It’s no secret that foils are becoming more and more prevalent in lineups. You either hate them or know someone who hates them because they are new and people hate new things. Also, under the feet of someone who doesn’t know what they’re doing, they can cut your body in half, so there’s that. Grant Baker, however, probably isn’t going to cut a body in half.

While he’s mostly known for his big wave exploits, Twiggy is damn good on waves of a more “normal” size. He surfs well under a kite and with a paddle, too, so it’s not all that surprising that he’s dipping his toes into the foil waters. “I enjoy feeling like a kook again,” he said a few years ago. “Learning something new–and with foiling, if there are a few people in the lineup, I’m at the end. I’m the worst surfer in the lineup.”

Isn’t it strange that the better you get at something the more you want to get back to that feeling that learning something new gives you?
