The Inertia

To a non-surfer, wipeouts are a difficult thing to truly understand. Sure, there are plenty of videos that show them, but there’s so much happening during a bad wipeout that videos never really do it justice. This one, however, comes pretty damn close.

Captured by Mikala Jones on a GoPro Fusion and cut together in post by Robbie Crawford, a digital artist based out of Huntington Beach, California, it shows just about every angle there is to show. “The camera actually flew out of Mikala’s hand,” Crawford wrote on Facebook, “but because it captures everything I was able to control composition in post using the reframe plugin… it’s just phenomenal technology. Not sure about you guys, but I personally feel this is one of the most incredible perspectives of a wipeout ever captured.”
