If there’s anyone who feels comfortable in the lineup when Jaws is maxing out, it’s Kai Lenny. From windsurfing to SUPing to good ol’ fashioned surfing, Kai can basically do whatever he wants out at Pe’ahi. Which is why it was no surprise that during last week’s XXL swell he was a standout amongst a who’s who of elite big wave riders.
During the contest he and a member of the water safety patrol took a spill on a jetski. And afterwards, he and his friends rode massive Jaws on every single type of watercraft imaginable. But this footage is just plain surfing – and in the best way possible. It’s a different view of Jaws that we don’t always get to see. More intimate. Intense. It gives you a better glimpse at just exactly what goes into catching one of these beasts.
